Julia to Meander near SE US coast – TD12 Not an Imminent Threat

Posted by Levi at 1:27pm on September 15, 2016

Tropical Depression Julia is moving eastward away from the coast of South Carolina this morning. Due to westerly shear, all heavy rains have shifted to the east side of the storm and away from the coast. This will limit storm totals in South Carolina, though some heavy showers may move back toward the coast this weekend, as Julia may loop around and approach the coast again as it weakens due to wind shear. Most of the significant impacts from Julia are over. Rip currents will continue to be a danger on the beaches of South and North Carolina.

Elsewhere…Tropical Depression Twelve in the far eastern Atlantic is expected to remain weak over the next several days. However, this will also allow the storm to track farther south and west, introducing the possibility that TD12 will be close to the lesser Antilles by the middle of next week. It’s too soon to know if TD12 will actually impact the islands, but it will be monitored well into next week.

Other than rip currents, what significant impacts are you talking about? Two leaves fell ( actually drifted down) out of my willow tree. lol

Heavy rain last night was a concern, which is why a flash flood watch was issued. Granted, during a weak tropical storm, most people usually don’t experience problems, but flooding can happen no matter how weak the storm.
