When people are talking about a tropical system, I will repeat a small fraction of what Levi discussed the previous evening and people think I am extremely knowledgable. Does anyone else do this?

I have been noticing the models shifting farther west to the mid atlantic and new england. What is your thought on this???
Highly uncertain still, but it could stall or move slowly close enough to the coast to bring bad weather to that region.
Very helpful explanation of Hermine for this Gulf coast resident. Thank you for taking the time to do such a wonderful job of showing how the storm works and what influences it. I have learned more from your blog this week than I ever knew in spite of living these tropical systems all my life.

Best educated guesstimate of the probability of a more easterly landing – say toward Gainsville – which will impact Orlando more?

Looking at satellite imagery of this and is it just me or has the storm pushed unexpectedly eastward in the last 45 minutes or so??? Levi, do you see that?
I bet the NHC pros are scratching their heads pacing in circles as we speak. Don’t be surprised to see all the hurricane watches get plastered hundreds of miles south of where they end now on the Florida panhandle.

Wouldn’t that be part of the wobble that he mentioned?
It’s still difficult to say whether the apparent eastward wobble is a long-term trend, or if it will wobble back west/north. Often weak systems will swerve around and can be difficult to track.

Looking at the radar of the storm, it does look like the whole cloud mass is drifting east. Maybe a landfall south of Tampa? It reminds me of Hurricane Charlie when the NHC was saying it was going to be a Tampa landfall while I watched the center make a bee line towards Punta Gorda. The NHC was saying it was just a wobble. There are still many unknowns that we still don’t have a total grasp on yet. Or maybe it will head exactly where they predict?

I love your page. I live in Manatee County ( which isjust south of Tampa Bay) I live lesd than a mile from the coast. We received 10+ inches of rain today with more expected tomorrow. It’s basically rained all day today since 5:30 A.M. with occasionally thunderstorms.
Flooding already in Manatee and Sarasota counties. We are not even in the ‘offical’ hurricane watch zone.

I am so thrilled to have been directed to you page by a meteorologist I chat with occasionally. I have become very interesting in weather, how it forms and so on over the past year for some reason. Weather is far outside my former occupation in telecommunications but now it seems to have taken my interest. Your information is well presented and you obviously really know your stuff. I will be adding you to my daily sites I enjoy and follow. I live in the Maritime region of Canada just north of Maine so eastern seaboard weather patterns, as well as what we get from the west through the northern States and southern Canada combine into a very interesting and complex battle of weather fronts. I am sure everyone has seen the perfect storm and this was a collision of all these weather flows coming together can really cause some complicated forecasts. Looking forward to coming back tomorrow.
Given the current track I assume you’ll feel some effects from this at FSU. After those years posting about the tropics from Alaska, how do you feel about experiencing a storm somewhat first hand, or have you been through one before?

Great link! At least your not scaring people like the “Weather Channel” to evacuate to Minnesota before there house falls in the ocean! I live just north of Hilton Head in Beaufort County and we expect some wind and maybe 3-5 inches of rain, which we can really use! One thing for sure….with all the pruned trees we got down here, we will definitely be losing some power!
