Thanks Levi. I can tell you we are very nervous in NOLA. Mandatory evacuation outside flood protection system is now occurring. Long lines at gas stations and food stores are common right now. We are concerned about the storm slowing down after landfall. What is your thought on this? Also the intensity is so unknown at this point. Local newscast are saying they wouldn’t be surprised if this goes to a Cat 4. Lastly, this will hit on Katrina anniversary which is like pouring salt on open wound. That is the latest report in the NOLA area. Thanks for what you do!
Great information, many thanks for posting and hosting all of this. Just a note that the timestamp on your videos does not seem to adjust for local time zone, so you should include time zone on your timestamps.
YOU ROCK LEVI, Best site on the net bar none sir. Here in Slidell, LA. are watching IDA closely, as we were here for “KATRINA” and “BETSY” and “CAMILLE”. Thank You For All That YOU do.
How bad will this be for the entire New Orleans, Louisiana Metropolitan area? Wind speed, and rainfall if it makes landfall at Grand Isle, or Port Fourchon (Pronounced FOO-Shawn)?
Is there a chance that it won’t be bad at all for the Metro area?
Levi, here in New Iberia, La, we would love to here your thoughts as Ida approaches. You have an amazing ability to explain without drama or exaggeration. Thanks for all you do. Please post a new blog and let us know your thoughts.
Our mayor sucks. I left on the 23rd. Told my friends it would probably hit on the 30th. Camping in Az at the moment. A lot of my neighbors have a fema trailer from Katrina

Let me tell you, brother, we appreciate you here in New Orleans. Keep up the good work! Now, I’m getting out of town!

Thank you Levi!
This is the kind of presentation the National Hurricane Center SHOULD be doing.
Thanks Levi
But there aren’t any flashing red graphics with cool palm trees blowing in windy rain.
If you want that, go visit Louisiana in a day or so.
If you want actual weather information, though, look no further than Levi.

Levi, which GOM weather/data buoy website would you recommend?

Levi – Great work. Your explanations have qualities of a great instructor. Are you still at RSMAS

If it makes landfall there, then expect Cat 4. winds; more specifically, prepare for winds over 130 mph.
How exactly does one “prepare” for winds over 130mph?
One way to prepare is to look around you, see all the things that will become flying projectiles, and get on the highway headed out of town.
Always listen to your reports not those Drama Queens at TWC. That Rick guy makes me sick. He loves it
Total jerk.

The whole metropolitan suburbs area of New Orleans is on the bad, dirty side of Ida.
If you live in Southern Louisiana, I highly suggest leaving RIGHT NOW.

You’re killing me with the length of time between updates. It’s been over 24 hours since the last video.
