Hi Levi. The Euro has always seems to have 92L get stronger over land, and the 12Z shows it with decent organization over the NC coast and then over the Atlantic become a decent storm, whereas the GFS has the system do a typical slow fade over land. Any thoughts on the difference?
The ECMWF currently has a bias where it strengthens tropical cyclones over land too often. A gradual decay over land is more likely here.
Any reason for that Levi? That goes against everything I have been told about surface friction and flow.
its because theres no water on land making the cyclone unable to strengthen. Cyclones need warm water to strengthen as it makes them areas of lower pressure.

Could you comment on how the formation of the storm off the west coast of Mexico would impact the storm in the Gulf? Seems they are developing at the same time. Not sure what that could mean. Thanks!
It looks like Slidell, Louisiana eastward to Biloxi, Mississippi could get the most rain?

I can firsthand tell you I know what he means by its stalling and that causes a lot of rain. I live in Wilmington North Carolina which always gets hurricanes but unfortunately, we had Florence that decided to stop right over us For a couple of days. Our total rain amount was 35 1/2 inches of rain. It was so bad and people lost everything. And of course, the storm is going right through us in Wilmington North Carolina which will be nothing. My rule of thumb is if a hurricane is a 1, 2, 3 I stay. 4 I leave if I have my kids that week but I will definitely think of leave. 5? I’ll ask on here if I can sleep over for a few days lol. Btw I live a few miles from the coast in Wilmington North Carolina. Try to remember this message for maybe the next hurricane or a couple after because Wilmington North Carolina will be hit, unfortunately.

GFS has a tropical formation happening in the gulf and going over NWFL on the 1st of July. How likely do you think that storm will happen and how likely do you think that track is?

Wow the last couple of years it just seems like everything hits between Tex and Fla. Btw we had our 5th tornado this year so far in Quebec Can. One of them happened on Monday 25 miles from my home in the Montreal area. Insanity
