Marco will be a huge rain maker, that’s it.

    • Jake says:

Would much rather have that thing moving North than West.

Closer the center of circulation is to the Gulf more chance of heavy torrential rain through training.

I could see some issues with Rain based on movement.

So when a storm moves over Cuba, do we lose all/most aircraft recon data due to the political issues?

  • William Jones says:

Thank you! I have been sharing your site with everyone I know.

I appreciate: *Calm well articulated presentation
*Supported Facts clearly explained without talking down
    * No hype
I think all news and weather could learn a thing or 10 from you.

    Great work!

    Hi Levi,

In looking at the models for Laura, it appears that the remnants of the storm will turn to the east somewhere around Missouri/Illinois. Once the turn is made, many model members seem to show that the pressure of the depression/remnant low will actually decrease as it makes its way eastward through the US. This seems atypical to me. Is there something else going on that would cause this pressure drop?

  • Ryan says:

You are good at this. Thank you, Levi. Straight science, no hype. World needs more like you.

  • Hank Wahrmund says:

Great job! I agree with William Jones’ comments. Very informative without techo-geek or distracting uhhh…ummm..Keep up the great work!

  • Jay Keller says:

Look at how featureless the Atlantic is behind Laura.

Was trying to find the comment section on weather Underground. I knew Levi was an incredibly reliable source. I love reading the comments people make. Yes, Levi thank you for your professionalism.

  • Mary says:

Levi has always been one I looked to for information on twitter with his tropics tidbits and his information He posted in the weather underground comments. I’ve been reading the comments on weather underground since Katrina. I was hoping I might find out if there’s a new forum everyone from wether underground went to now but so far I haven’t seen or heard.

I would like to agree with the previous posters about Levi’s information. I learned more just now than I did all day. Excellent analysis!

  • Tropics Guru says:

No warning form Nhc that’s sad because I’m form Jamaica. Things here is being calm so far with isolated to strong burst on and off on the south end where I am certainly will a rain maker for us but for the gulf one watch monster on the horizon

    • Clay says:

The center of Laura is over 200 miles away from Jamaica and isn’t going to come close.

Not sure what world that Tim guy lives in.

  • ren says:

    Laura moves to eastern Cuba.
Marco brings severe thunderstorms to the east coast of the Gulf of Mexico.

  • ren says:

In my opinion, Laura will follow Marco to Louisiana.

  • ren says:

The jet stream is now pressing in the Midwest and is pushing Marco further east.

  • Clay says:

Hi Levi, love the site and have been a fan since I moved to Florida and has to keep an eye on things. This is my go to place for information.

But can you please ban this Tim guy? It’s pretty annoying because I like to read the comments while waiting for a new video to see if there is any good information. Instead, I get this guy who seems like an old crazy drunk guy talking nonsense.

    Thanks for the awesome website!

  • Jake says:

Isla de la Juventud has been under warning.

It being impacted was well known. Every had the system moving over or near the island.

  • Barfolomew says:

Just based on naked eye observation of the satellite: looks like the deep convection is really struggling to wrap around the center of Laura.Cold cloudtops near but just east and south of the center fire then warm.

Also, is that really dry air to the north and west (in the forecast path)?

  • Jake says:

Local Governments in SE Texas and SW Louisiana are found a great job right now except probably the mayor of Beaumont. But she is a strange one.

They are preparing in cases mandatory evacuations have to happen. I guess Cameron Parish already started the mandatory as well as Port Arthur, TX

People are well aware of going on thanks to people like Levi and others at the NHC

    • Barfolomew says:

Evacuations during a pandemic. Has to happen, but I cannot imagine a better way to stir the pot and accelerate the rate of spread than to displace a significant percentage of a community.

      • Jake says:

That is why you start with voluntary.

So if you have to do mandatory it is much easier.

If this thing is anywhere close to Rita evacuations will be needed.

Half of the issues is spending a few days without electricity
If you have a generator that is different. .
You don’t want to be without AC for 2 hours in SE TX and SW LA in August let alone a couple of days

  • Dirtyharr says:

    Ft Walton;
Well today waVes 4’-5’ waves and rain
    Visibility 1/2 mile
    Dual red flags
Appears this low pressure is going up the mississippi

    Laura is the nasty one.
