Thanks for the update! Why are they calling this a potential CYCLONE and not a DEPRESSION???

I thought cyclones occur in the South Pacific and the Indian Ocean????

    Thanks for clarifying!

    Stay safe everyone 🙏

The system is a potential tropical cyclone – advisories are being initiated on it due to the threat it poses to land, but is not sufficiently organized enough to be called as such. When the system develops, it will be considered a tropical depression/storm. The term ‘tropical cyclone’ applies to all cyclones and is probably the reason the NHC calls it as it is.

Thank you for the explanations based upon the science. I live in Myrtle Beach and use your details to help me understand how to use updates on models to better prepare for what is coming.

Thanks for the clarification! Stay safe 🙏

  • Storm Likely to Form Near Leeward Islands this year I have seen a lot of information about storms and floods, what a sad year. Because storms like this will greatly affect the economy.
