How can it be “good news” that Douglas is tracking more northerly and the models show the it over Oahu? Oahu is the most populated island in the chain, not the Big Island.
I meant that the trend toward a track that has a chance to avoid hitting the islands directly is good news. However, the greatest threat is now to the northernmost islands like Oahu. Apologies if this was unclear.
Seems that models are showing the storm to actually strengthen over land. I saw on TV earlier where towns up river on the Rio Grande were expected to see hurricane force winds well inland where landfall was to see only 60-ish.
Winds tonight are already 60+ with around 16+ hours before landfall.
According to the experts they don’t see any reason for it to decrease intensity. Most likely it will get stronger. Probably will have a better idea in the morning. Right now they are saying highest winds will be 90 mph at landfall.
In the morning I think they will have a better idea at where around the L the highest winds are at.

The surf in Galveston has really picked up according to the reports
Haven’t seen it pick up here in Port Lavaca much more than it has.
Expect flooding in Deep South TX. Luckily they haven’t blocked the river yet.
